Our HistoryDeAngelis Donuts started in 1947 by Joseph DeAngelis in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Joseph coined the phrase "Delightfully Different" in the 1940's and hoped that this legacy would continue on. He also said, "DeAngelis is home of the all vegetable donut." This was because a lot of donuts were fried in lard at the time, whereas DeAngelis was different because he fried the donuts in vegetable oil.
In 1975 Richard and Thomas DeAngelis opened up DeAngelis Brothers Inc. in Rochester, Pennsylvania. Joseph operated the Beaver Falls location until 1977 when he passed away and then Mary Lou DeAngelis operated that store until 1980. At this point Richard and Thomas DeAngelis took over both locations under the name DeAngelis Donuts. In 1985, the Chippewa location was born. In 2003, Thomas DeAngelis retired from the business and passed away in 2005. Richard has run the business since 2003 in loving memory of his family. The Beaver Falls location was closed in 2003 and the Chippewa location was closed in 2013. Leaving the Rochester location the remaining DeAngelis store. DeAngelis Donuts continues to be "Delightfully Different". |
